Choose a Word
As a new month in the Jewish calendar begins, Hanukkah or Chanukah ends, and most of us are preparing for Christmas and thinking of the start of a new year. This is one of my favorite times of year for reflection, goal writing, praying, and starting fresh. A new year, a new month, a new day… so full of possibilities.
I grew up with my father setting a theme for each new year, and more recently, I have been choosing one word for each season or year. If you were to choose one word, what would it be?
freedom, hope, victory, insight, joy, peace, rest, trust, … ????
There are so many beautiful words; descriptive, colorful words all having a special connotation for each of us personally.
Nouns, verbs, adjectives…
What word resonates with you today?
What are you longing for?
What are you discovering?
What are you pursuing?
What theme do you feel the LORD bringing up again and again?
This month, in the same way that you studied and chose a picture or symbol for GRACE and TRUTH, I’d like you to choose a word for yourself, your own word for the season you are in or what you are anticipating or hoping for in the next season or year.
Look back at the challenge from (Oct/Nov) Cheshvan for a refresher of the two part instructions, then journal a bit as you ponder how the words “grace” and “truth” might relate and tie into your word.
